Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Answers to common questions about using Linguapress.com.

1. Do I need to create an account or provide my email to use Linguapress?
No! Linguapress.com is completely free and accessible to everyone with no sign-up required and no emails collected. We value your privacy and don’t track your activity.

2. What is Linguapress.com, and how come it's all free?
Linguapress was originally launched by a small international team of EFL experts working in the department of English and the Centre for Applied Linguistics at the University of Besançon, in France.  Linguapress online resources are free for everyone to use, anywhere in the world, because at Linguapress, we believe that education is a right, not something that should be only available to those who can afford it.

3. As a teacher, can I use materials from Linguapress in the classroom?
Of course! Feel free to use Linguapress materials in class. However, please do not copy pages or large extracts to any other publicly accessible website, such as Scribd. This is a breach of copyright, and is pointless as you can always connect directly and without limitation to Linguapress.com. If you copy any materials to your school's internal teaching platform, please include a clickable link back to Linguapress.com to acknowledge the source.

4. As a student, can I use Linguapress for personal study at home?
Yes, of course. Almost all graded reading resouces come with worksheets, mostly interactive, that you can work through by yourself.

5. Can I contribute content or suggest new teaching materials?
We welcome contributions from teachers and writers! Please use our contact form to submit proposals or classroom resources. We’re always looking to expand and improve our free resource collection.

6. How are the reading texts graded?
Our reading materials are graded according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels – ranging from A2 (elementary) to C2 (proficient). This helps you choose texts suitable for your level or class.

7. Can I use Linguapress resources on any device?
Yes! Our website and interactive exercises work on most modern devices including desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones - whether using Windows, Apple or Android. Most resources can also be projected in class onto a screen or interactive whiteboard.

8. Are Linguapress online resources available in pdf format?
Yes and no. While some resources are also available in pdf, in most cases this is not necessary. Most pages come in "pff" printer-friendly format, and the essential content can be printed directly from the normal web page.

9. Are the audio and podcasts free to use?
Yes, audio recordings are free to listen to on the site and can be played as often as needed.

10. Do you offer any print books or physical materials?
Yes, Linguapress has returned to print publishing with a selection of acclaimed books available for purchase. These complement our online resources and are available worldwide through online distributors, or specialist bookstores. Obviously, these cannot be free, and small royalties received from book sales and from reprints by commercial publishers help fund the maintenance and development of the free website.

11. How does Linguapress protect user privacy?
We do not track users or collect personal data. Our search tool uses privacy-friendly search engines, notably Mojeek, to avoid ads and tracking. Your privacy is important to us.

12. Can I use Linguapress materials to prepare for exams like IELTS or TOEFL?
Absolutely! Our resources are designed to support learners preparing for national and international English language qualifications including IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge exams.
